KKK - Kabataan para sa Kalayaan at Kasarinlan 2016

On the 118th celebration of Independence Day, Mr. Paul Ituralde, the owner of Casa Consulado, and KKB not just simply celebrated this day as the house opened for the children of Quiapo, last June 12, 2016. Kapitbahayan sa Kalye Bautista at iba pa or simply called as KKB helped for this project, from cleaning the Casa, setting up the designs and audios, from canvassing up to buying the materials needed for the event, and preparing food for the guests. The organization spent almost a month to make this KKK or Kabataan para sa Kalayaan at Kalinangan successful.

The event started in doxology where-in Stephen Pamorada sang “O Bayan Ko” by one and only Ryan Cayabyab, and "Hanggang Wala ng Bukas" by Ebe Dancel from the OST of Heneral Luna movie.

Atty. Grace Chua, councilor in Quiapo, Manila, gave speech. She played a big role as they acknowledged this program.

After the ceremonial ribbon cutting, activities were held by our members for the children, such as storytelling, doctor quack-quack, and drawing the Philippine flag, as how they interpreted or understood what was the celebration all about at their young age. School supplies and food were provided to the children right after the activities. These children accepted the gifts whole heartedly as you will see the glow and enjoyment through their eyes.

KKK or Kabataan para sa Kalayaan at Kalinangan was created not just to give happiness to the children of Quiapo. Through this event the guests also experience a preview some of the artworks painted by the members of Sining Amang, which will be opening a studion in Casa Consulado soon. A little exhibit was held at the dining area of the house where the artworks of Mr. Michael Turibio and Mr. Eldrin Ayende were displayed.

Mr. Paul Ituralde and KKB aims that these children not just to remember what happened inside the Casa Consulado, but also to remember this place itself. Not just on how the people inside gave comfort, but also how this house, which made of wood and stone, welcomed them.

This event also became our milestone to give awareness to our neighborhood on how we can preserve our heritage houses, and one of that is the Casa Consulado. The house became Consul of Monaco in 1950s - 1960s.
